Яoma Bantik
Roma Bantik is a contemporary artist born in the industrial Ural region of Russia (mid-1990s) who later moved to France, where he continues his artistic practice and studies at the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Strasbourg. His background in architecture and industrial design strongly shapes his work, which often combines sculpture, installation, sound, and digital media. A central idea in Bantik’s art is the transformation of industrial materials. He frequently works with recycled metal—sometimes from engines or machinery—and reshapes it into objects that lose their original utilitarian function. Through this process he explores themes such as rebirth, identity, myth versus reality, and the relationship between humans and the material world. His projects often reflect personal and historical experiences, including the industrial culture of the Urals and the political upheavals of recent years. Bantik has exhibited in Russia and Europe and also publishes experimental texts and books, including an anti-war project connected to his artistic practice.
